Yosemite

Andy's new friend, Cayenne, came into the world on Saturday, September 3rd. Happy birthday, Cayenne! Here is her live journal:

Andy's other girlfriend, Alexandra, has her own blogsite, too:

Sarah posts so much; she puts me to shame.

We had an incredible trip to Yosemite over Labor Day weekend!

Unbelievably, we were able to reserve a tent cabin at Curry Village the week before. Yes, it was hot and crowded. There were lines for meals and showers. On Saturday night, we could hear other campers opening their bear lockers at all hours. Then Mike got the ingenious idea of ear plugs. We slept much better on Sunday!

(The laughter and conversations of our neighbors didn't bother Andy in the slightest. He slept as well, or even better, than he does at home. Which is not very well, but we were prepared for worse! )

On Sunday, we managed to escape the crowds with a strenuous hike up to Inspiration Point. From just one and a half miles up, we had unobstructed views of the whole valley, completely to ourselves.

Our path crossed just one group of four. Andy tried out his new Ergo Baby Carrier, and loved it, for the most part.

His favorite part of the hike was the dirt he found waiting for him at the top. Here he is looking like a chimney sweep:

By Monday morning, the crowds were thinning, and we rented bikes to ride the valley floor. Andy slept most of the ride in his bike trailer.

Hi Barbara,
Your trip to Yosemite sounds amazing. The photos are beautiful. Do you know I've never been there? I think that will change soon.
Anyway, I appreciate Andy's page and now I'm excited to see you have a blog too. I'll check back for fun stories and photos.
I hope all is well. Give my love to everyone.
How is Judy doing?
